It is so rooted to the place that few realize it’s there - Ajmeri Gate in
Delhi has a history of its own. During the Mughal times, this powerful signpost
was the principal exit point for royal processions on their way to Ajmer, the
Sufi pilgrim town in Rajasthan. But as one of the 14 gateways in the great wall
of Shajahanabad, today’s Old Delhi, Ajmeri Gate lies disconnected from its past.
The wall that is guarded has disappeared. Also lost to time are most of the
wall’s gateways; only four survive- Ajmeri Cheap TRX Trainer Kit
Sale Gate, Lahori Gate, Mori Gate and Kashmere Gate.Ajmeri Gate is now tucked within a free-for-all traffic square. One road that heads to the New Delhi railway station; another to G.B. Situated in such a grim and noisy region, Ajmeri Gate is in contrast, one of Delhi’s most quiet monument that stands silently surrounded by the Rehman Mosque, the new chicken kebab shop, a branch office of Indian Labor Union, a police post, the fruit stalls and a few omelet carts.
